Amateur Sport Takes To The Airwaves

Te Upoko o Te Ika radio has teamed up with the New Zealand Amateur Sports Association to produce and broadcast a new programme called ‘The Amateur Sports Hour’, on 1161AM and via the internet on tunein.com.

The pilot show was broadcast on 2 February, with the show planned to go to air every Friday from 12.00pm to 1.00pm.

This exciting new programme is produced and presented by Wellington sports broadcaster and commentator David Piper, with plenty of input from the association, amateur clubs, organisations, individuals from around New Zealand.

Te Upoko o Te Ika radio’s production team has created a format which includes include news, views and more about amateur sport in our communities.

With its growing audience, Te Upoko o Te Ika will soon be moving to an FM frequency, and with its internet audience, this is a fantastic opportunity to create another platform for amateur sport to get its story out there.
